This is a full set of Gordan Galloway Uilleann pipes made for me in 2019. I am the original owner. They have been stored in a smoke-free home. They are ebony with boxwood mounts and the metal is nickel plated. The stock is made from ebony (an upgrade from his usual stock). All three regulators have stainless steel keys (to hold up to heavy use for full-time musicians). The chanter is fully keyed with a C, F, G#, and Bb keys as well as a chanter stop key. The set includes Gordon’s “deluxe” option, which is an upgrade with additional mounts and beaded metalwork. The set has an all metal bass drone puck with its own tuning slide for micro tuning. The original bellows are included and they work perfectly and are air tight. It’s really quite a lovely set. I am selling because I’m struggling to keep them going here in southern Colorado where relative humidity is often around 10%. They are in great shape overall, though the ferrule around the main stock loosened six months after I took delivery, I presume from lack of humidity and mild wood shrinkage. It has not affected playability and some fresh hemp will hold it perfectly. If I were keeping the set I would simply reglue this, but I held off in case they are going to an appropriately humid environment where I suspect the issue will self-correct.
The set includes an extra chanter reed made for this chanter by Gordon as well as two additional sets of drone reeds – you will get the original cane drone reeds, but also a set of Ezeedrone uilleann pipe reeds as well as a set of custom drone reeds made for me by Nate Banton that are quite lovely. Each set of drone reeds is very playable, but I have tended to use one of the synthetic sets here in Colorado, again due to humidity.
This purchase will also include a Hiscox UP case, which I had to custom order from Europe. I will include some Uilleann piping maintenance books by Tim Britton and D.M. Quinn.
