Got these pipes with a view to either using myself or letting my son have the honour as he was looking.
Tested and going well (bass is a little low tuning, as is often the case with Lawrie)
Now, my son has no need for these as he’s going to be moving around in Europe. I now have decided to stick with my Sinclair’s and Starck’s. Not quite eeny meeny miny mo, just me made a final choice.
So, to the bagpipes. Lawrie’s from at least the late 1950’s. Bass bottom section is a replacement (original in the box, now unusable. Bores are true. Flat combed striped ebony by the looks of one of the tenor top sections.
Blowstick stock is now a plastic split stock (original survives but has a crack up the inside, which may or may not be repairable) with tube water trap. Blowstick looks like a Henderson. Ferrule of original stock fits the split stock, but has not been glued on in case anyone wants to put it back on the original stock or make another. Some dings on most of the ferrules. Looks to be real material drone caps and bushes, in good condition. Bennett medium size hide bag (no seasoning required). Green nylon cords. Very well constructed wooden box from the same era as the pipes, handle has long since worn out and rope is now being used.
Little else to say, but I’ll answer any questions as best I can.
Viewing best before deciding is probably best, but the price is set fairly.
Can post, insured for the value. In time for Xmas if sold in the next few days, otherwise likely the week after.
