Cocobolo, brass and imitation ivory half set. Complete half set made in 2016. D. Daye marked on chanter. Originally bought a David Daye’s standard set with Black Penny-chanter & plastic drones for one of my piping students.. Realized he was making good instruments that were easy to play and maintain, but wasn’t satisfied with the plastic tone ,response and feel. This newer cocobolo upgrade custom set has a warmer and better tone with really nice balance chanter and drones volume.They have that natural wood look and sound.
I am the first owner and have kept them carefully and played at home. So like new. No dings or scratches on any of the wood. Brass is sprayed with a coating so does not tarnish fast as reg. brass. Easy maintenance. Imitation ivory no staining or damage. The upgrade was not cheap but really worth it. Cocobolo produces the same richness of tone you will hear from the best ebony sets.
Includes: High C key, and a stop/wind key Which is the Chanter-top, simply twist top-cap to stop air. (Black top in photo) Chanter marked w/ Daye name and number. Includes extra Daye chanter reed
Also includes the drone stock stopper/cork. ( Photo ) to let the player remove the drones & stock if needed, and convert to a practice set when practicing new tunes on the chanter.
