This lovely set of smallpipes comes with drones in C and two chanters with half stocks for easy swapping. The drones and chanters are made of dyed maple and the chanter plug-in (to the bag) is made of rosewood. It has a new hand-stitched leather bag. The bellows are not original to the set but are the right size for the set, are airtight and easy to operate.
The C chanter has sharp sevenths and can be played with either open fingering for Northumbrian, Renaissance or Spanish music, and some Scottish Lowland tunes (or any Scottish tune that doesn’t require the seventh). Or, you can plug the bottom and play with closed fingering as a simple keyless Northumbrian chanter (in C).
The small Northumbrian keyless chanter in F# can also be played either way, but has the peculiarity of having a top flat seventh and a bottom sharp seventh when played open (without the bottom plug). The lowest note could be flattened by inserting a short tube in the bottom.
The drones are C/G-F#/c and are fitted with composite reeds (brass body with cane tongue)
I am selling this set for a friend.
