Absolutely stunning stand of R.G. Lawrie (1940’s) blackwood bagpipes. Fully combed and beaded with imitation ferrules, projection mounts, ring caps and bushings. These pipes sat idle for decades and are fresh off a total refurb by Dunbar Bagpipes Ltd. Before the cleanup, I played them with both Ezeedrone and Canning reeds and they locked right in with a very blended, harmonious sound.
There are some deliberate markings on a couple of the mounts, I suspect they were to identify them, and a couple of the fittings were replaced by Dunbar during the refurb. Wood is in excellent condition and the bores are polished and arrow straight.
The set came with two bass middle sections, I will include them both. There is also a blackwood Lawrie pipe chanter, of the period but I am not sure if it was original to the set.
They came in an old dovetail wooden case with some interesting carving on it (see pics), not worth the cost of shipping but would send at buyer’s expense.
All in all, a great set of vintage bagpipes! North America shipping included in the price.
