Original Specs: The Electronic Scottish Great Highland Bagpipe – redpipe caledonia P4 belongs to the model line of mouth blown redpipes. This bagpipe made of polyacetal (POM) is manufactured by McCallum Bagpipes. In contrast to the P2, the caledonia P4 is delivered with Celtic engravings on the ring caps. We implement the redpipes electronics and the standard chanter or OpticalTouch chanter. Both have full size dimensions. An electronic bagpipe for Scottish Piping, Celtic Rock or Folk Rock bands. Since you can adjust the volume, it is also popular for solo pipers who play e.g. at weddings and funerals. With the optional speaker you are self-sufficient and don’t need any additional equipment. Of course you can also play medieval, French, German and Spanish music on it. No reed problems – unpack – switch on – play in any key and the pitch is adjustable in a wide range. The playing feel, fingering and sound are similar to an acoustic Great Highland Bagpipe. Other sounds and fingerings like Medival bagpipe, Hümmelchen, Smallpipes, Renaissance, or Gaita can be combined with simple switching. The blowing and pressing works like an acoustic bagpipe. Air pressure and air consumption are adjustable to your own needs. The sound of the drones and chanter as well as the bendings are pneumatically controlled by pressure on the bag. Water vapour, which is produced by the air you breathe, is transported to the outside through the synthetic membrane.
