I am selling an blackwood Sinclair Chanter.
This was one of two given to me by Walter McMinn PM of Mount Carmel PB who bought in from Tom McAllister, Shotts PM, in the early 80’s since the band we had merged with were playing plastic Shepherds.
I played it all over the UK in solos and then when i was playing in the USA Ian Whitlaw (Ex SFU) carved it to their standard and gave it a whole new level of sound. If you were there in 2006 I played this in the Queen Mary Kitchen piping competition and got 2nd place to Colin Armstrong.
My favourite chanter by far,
Got great tone and sound from this chanter using Jamie Troy’s reeds as well as those made by Stevie McGarity. For a lone time, the best sound came from Dave Chesney’s reeds.
Reason for sale:
I no longer play and am selling my gear. I was diagnosed with a degenerative brain disease a few years ago after enjoing years playing in Grade 1 with bands all over the world and was keeping my pipes for my son but he has no interest. SO it’s time for these lovely things to go to a new home and be played.
Can arrange pickup near Melbourne CBD or will post worldwide.
