This stunning set of 1967 Hardies was played by Pipe Major John Haywood of the Campbell
Chevrolet Pipe Band of San Diego. He was previously in the Seaforth Highlanders and Edinburgh Police. Hand Engraved with a rare Celtic Dragon/Knot design, they are in great condition, and
include the original leather pipe box with his name on it. The box and handle have been repaired. As with any set of near 70 year old pipes, there are minor flaws which are shown in the pictures. As they have been out of use since1992, I have bore oiled 3x with 4 week intervals, they have been hand hemped with the lower layers cobblers wax and the top layers beeswax. The tuning pins were then finished with a fine coat of paraffin wax to reduce friction for tuning. 2 of The “natural material” hemp stops were missing, and all have been replaced with plastic by McCallum, making them travel ready without the natural material, (if not using original blowstick) and the 2 remaining originals are included. ALSO INCLUDED. The original chanter with matching silver sole and the original blowpipe with a natural material bulb in very good condition, no cracks. The chanter sole has just been turned on with a bit of hemp in case you want to put it on a modern chanter. The sound file was made with the original 1992 L&M Bag, (as is) included and airthight. The chanter had a chip in the bottom which I found in the case, and has been repaired, pictures included. The top of the Bass Drone has a slight dent in the silver, and the bottom of the outside tenor has a chip, pictured.
Otherwise these are pristine. New Velvet Bag Cover and silver cords included as shown.
I have been delighted to play these a few times, and a sound file is available
$5500 US as is, sticks and stocks, Original chanter and blowpipe L&M Bag (as is). All neatly
packaged in Pipe Major John Haywoods original leather case (repaired)
PLUS post and packaging. Receipts for P&P will be included.
