‘David Glen’s Highland Bagpipe Tutor and Collection of Highland Bagpipe Music’. Complete in 17 parts. Published circa 1910 – 1920s.
Tutor (XVII) and 34 pages. Then Parts 1- 17 of Highland Bagpipe Music (pages vary each 30-40). A substantial volume of a Tutor plus seventeen individually paginated parts. Gilt titles to front, leather spine.
The interior pages are very good+, generally clean and solidly bound in the textblock. The binding has weakened and is beginning to separate from the block but all is currently intact. Both front and rear board present and secure. All pages intact but the binding may need to be more secured given the size and weight of the interior.
As ever it is difficult to be exact about publishing dates. Some of the collection have David Glen (not sons) as the publisher while the others have David Glen and Sons. Cannon states that,
‘since the imprint is not David Glen and sons, they must date from 1911 or earlier’ (p.167 A Bibliography of Bagpipe Music).
Those with the publisher noted as ‘David Glen and Sons’ will be later circa 1920s-30s.
