Carbony Low D Whistle from the premium American manufacturer Carbony Celtic Winds (Design: Rob Gándara).
This is the modernized, revised version, featuring two key factory-standard improvements:
1. Mouthpiece Modification ("Air Dam" Window):
This version features a redesigned voicing window (labium) incorporating the innovative "Air Dam" design. Airflow at the window is noticeably optimized compared to older versions. The whistle is less prone to breaking down in the second octave, the notes respond with extreme precision, and it is far more forgiving of variations in breath pressure.
2. Ergonomic Modification (Close Spacing / Small Hands):
Internal carbon "chimney extenders" allow the finger holes on the outside to be positioned closer together. It is wonderfully comfortable to play—using the fingertips directly—without needing the extreme "piper's grip." Perfect for smaller hands or a relaxed playing style; it is also very well-suited for women's hands.
Mouthpiece:
Made of marbled ebonite (hard rubber). The straight windway instantly adapts to lip temperature. Absolutely perfect for "wet blowers," as it effectively prevents the dreaded clogging of the air channel caused by condensation.
While many conventional ebonite or hard rubber mouthpieces feature a marbled pattern or develop unsightly streaks and discoloration over time, this one is solid black.
Body:
Ultra-thin, featherlight, and indestructible carbon fiber. Completely unaffected by temperature and humidity—offering extreme tuning stability. Sound:
The low D (bell note) is impressive—extremely stable and present. The sound is traditional and earthy, featuring a beautiful, wood-like breathiness (chiff).
The instrument is in very good, well-maintained condition with only minimal signs of use; it has seen little playing time and comes from a pet-free, non-smoking household.
