Very rare 3/4 set of Lawrie bagpipes in Cocus wood, featuring immaculate wood mounts Pre – 1920s. The smaller size of the bead on the mounts indicate these pipes were made in the very early days at Lawries, when the decor was closer to that of his previous employer, Peter Henderson. (Lawries of the later period used a much fatter bead on the mount.) These mounts are consistent with the design from 1908 until WW1. The bead on the bottom projecting mount is slightly larger than the top mount suggesting that these were made after 1908. All original parts, no chips or cracks. They have the very early tapered and beaded nickel ferrules. They have Celluloid end caps with what appear to be ivory inserts which was also common around the WW1 era.
Chanter is stamped with R.G Lawrie Edinburgh Glasgow London but is very difficult to see in the photo. Chanter also has darker inlays throughout the length of it.
Comes with a simple hard case and soft synthetic bag.
My son now plays on full sized pipes.
