This is a set of Great Highland Bagpipes. They were brand new in 1998 (23 years old), custom made in Scotland. Only me as the original owner, got to grade 2 with these. They have real silver on the drones, and mimic ivory (some chips) on the top of the drones. They have canisters in the bag, which is a synthetic bag (an upgrade that was made). The wood is custom engraved in Scotland from the original MacCallum maker. It comes with multiple tuners, metronome, and a dagger for your sock, and various sheet music I can provide. I will keep the hat.
The mouthpiece can be seen in the pictures, which has engraved silver. The chanter is MacCallum as well. Last played was in the summer for a tune or two. They have been kept sealed from moisture.
Brand new in 1998 was ~2000$ for the pipes alone. With all the extras I’m giving with it, and upgrades to the pipes, given the pretty significant chips on the top of the drones, they are definitely used. So given inflation,I would like to ask 1000$, negotiable.
It definitely needs some TLC and love, but they have been sealed away from moisture, and also with the canisters, I could throw them up and play them right now. Although it probably needs a new reed too, and some shining of the silver to bring it back to it’s glory. Open to potential trades for small-pipes as well.
