3/4 set of highland bagpipes. African Blackwood.
Inspected and suggested Henderson, but also possible Lawrie, 1880 – 1910. More investigation has found that both Henderson and Lawrie may have worked on the same bagpipes of this era.
No makers mark.
Seamed nickel ferrules.
Nickel slides.
Wooden mounts.
All parts look original.
Real ring caps and bushes.
Original blowstick (2 mouthpieces, one short, one long), with water trap built into the bottom of the blowstick, a common practice before fancy plumbing became a thing.
A few small dings, but does not detract from the set.
Medium Bannatyne pipe bag.
Using normal bagpipe drone reeds (Black Diamond in this case) tuning @ 452 Hz on the Korg CA-30 (equivalent 478) and rather pleasant at that, using a 1988 War-mac pipe chanter (included).
Same vintage era wooden case, small but perfectly formed.
Bag cover is a small, vintage McGregor tartan (I think) with red fringe on. It looks to be very tight on the bag, but I’ve never had it on, it just came with the pipes.
Sympathetic restoration – nickel clean up and gentle clean undertaken, but not spoiling the looks in any way.
Price for collection. Courier Delivery to any UK postcode – tracked – extra £30. Free delivery within 25 miles radius of Glenrothes.
Delivery outside the UK – probably not possible due to the ring cap material.
