1920 ebony Hendersons. The blowpipe and blowpipe stock are plastic, turned by Dunbar, they match the set. Included is (believed to be) the original ebony blow stick.
The ferrules are nickel, one of them (tenor top) is believed to be original as it has the tell tale soldered seam of that period, the others do not, but are of old vintage, impossible to say exactly when. They all match. The caps are Catalin, still in excellent shape as are the Casein bushings. The presence of these materials helped date the pipes.
These were sent to Dunbar this past May for a complete refurb (they didn’t really need it). Dunbar found 2 small issues: a small crack in the bass stock and one on a tenor pin. I never saw these problems and I still cannot find the stock repair.
They also refinished-polished the wood and nickel. The bores are true. No warps, cracks or repairs other than the above.
These pipes are light on the shoulder, play and tune properly on the pins with modern reeds. Absolutely rock steady.
