This is a truly beautiful set of Lawrie chalice-top bagpipes. Below is a link to the bagpipe museum discussing them. Allisdair Gillies was known to prefer the tone of these pipes. The tenor/bass blend and harmonics are really exceptional. They are especially light on the shoulder. I purchased these from the original owner’s estate, although it is not clear if they were really ever played as they were in the original Lawrie box and in mint condition. Comes with the original chanter, also in mint condition and no carving. Derek Marr polished them up – you can see them on his facebook page dated September 24, 2025, and some of his pics are below. Like the author of the bagpipe museum, I will likely regret selling them. But, I have been spending all my time playing Atherton MDs and WW1 era Henderson bass/Lawrie tenors setup… and these pipes deserve to be played.
