Silver and ivory Hardies in good shape in light of being almost half a century old. Classic thistle pattern. Original finish is nice. A few tiny nicks and dents on the drone tops from massed band countermarches and low or narrow doorways piping the haggis in, or the bride and groom out etc. They have no cracks, not even the stocks. This is a super solid example of Hardie pipes at their best. Easy to reed, and they settle and lock in fast. The blowpipe is a poly reproduction made by Dunbar to match, including a premium quality imitation ivory mount, pictured close up. Hallmarks are from 1969/1970 which is typical. Whats not is one of the tenor tops has silver dated 1975 on cap and ferule. Otherwise identical to its mate. I can’t find hallmarks on the tenor stocks or the chanter stock. Identical pattern though. Two of the hemp stops are made of deer antler to replace the missing originals. I only require one set of pipes at this stage of my life, so my extra instruments are for sale.
