Beautiful 2014 half-silver Dave Atherton Premier Bagpipes (sticks and stocks). African Blackwood fully combed and beaded, plain sterling silver ferrules, slides and ring cap bands with blackwood mounts and flat blackwood drone top bushings. Brass lined blackwood blowpipe with brass tenon. All silver is precision threaded. No chanter or bag.
Dave’s reputation as perhaps the premier modern pipe maker is well earned. His instruments are beautifully and meticulously crafted and display a bold and steady tone. With his Premier model, Dave still tried to keep the BLEND of the MacDougall drones, but with more punch coming from the bass drone.
This set was played sparingly and then disassembled and lovingly stored and maintained. Absolutely mint condition. No dings or marks on the wood or silver. Bores are arrow straight and have a mirror like finish along with all the silver. Unlike some of Dave’s other sets, the blowpipe and chanter stocks are African Blackwood to match the rest of the pipes. This is an heirloom quality set of pipes and deserves to be played and heard. His sets are becoming harder and harder to find. Especially in this condition.
