THE best set of border pipes money can buy. Rolls Royce in the bagpipes world. 5 drone set of Scottish Border pipes, bellows blown, Uilleann Configuration (drones rest on the lap) Alto, Tenor, Baritone, Bass, and the all important Contra-bass (a whole octave lower than bass!) Mesquite wood with dark horn mounts and brass fittings. Gorgeous, deep, rich, dark chocolatey tone. Beautifully scalloped chanter, so comfortable, and easy to find the holes.
Banton&Woodsons books are now closed for these, years of a waiting list, and he told me if they ever did open again they would retail for around $8000. These pipes are now very sought after and are as rare as hens teeth. He also told me he would stand over his older sets and overhaul, and maintain the pipes if needed for you – but it’s not needed.
