“A bit of a mixed bag”
A set of pipes (sticks& stocks) I am selling on behalf of another ‘’old guy’’ that doesn’t do the computer thing. All ABW with iv0ry mounts on the tenors, imitation mounts on the bass and stocks.
The 2 tenors are characteristic of CENTER drones from early in the 1900’s. I identify them by the 7 beads on the drone bottom section and the shape of the iv0ry projecting mounts. I’ve only seen this on the few pictures of CENTER pipes that I’ve seen on line, but no absolute ID. The bass is a RG Lawrie – about 1950’s. ABW with imitation mounts
The tenors have been cleaned up and the few checks in the wood have been fully repaired professionally as well as 2 new ferrules on the drone tops. The other mounts are iv0ry. The 5 stocks match the bass drone.
I do know that when I set them up in my pipes with the bass drone and reed them with either Canning or Easy drone reeds they were just fine. Well balanced and steady with a sound reminiscent of the GLEN pipes I sold a few years ago. They are not that booming sound but rather a rich and much mellower sound. Very easy to tune and great blend between tenors & bass.
