For sale here is an outstanding and very unique set of antique pipes in ebony, ivory and engraved German (Nickel) Silver. These pipes have been appraised as the work of John MacDougall of Perth by a very reputable and experienced purveyor of antique bagpipes not long ago. For serious buyers I can provide the appraisal letter upon inquiry. While they have been appraised as the work of J MacDougall, based on my own research, I believe they could in fact be early Duncan MacDougall, perhaps during his Edinburgh era, where the use of cut-bead/parrot beak projecting mounts have been noted on verified sets.
These pipes are in great condition given their age, and display a full, very steady tone, with great harmonics. A sound file can also be provided to interested buyers.
Pipes are in fantastic shape given their age and are ready to play.
Selling as sticks and stocks, including the very old chanter that came with the set.
$6,500 CAD – willing to ship at buyers expense and responsibility.
