For sale is a full set of C.E. Kron & Co. Model 7A Great Highland Bagpipes with Heritage drones and an African Blackwood Medalist Chanter made by Dave Atherton in 2004. The drones and stocks are fully combed and beaded and are not cracked or warped.
The projecting mounts, tunning slides, ferrules, ring caps, mouthpiece bulb, and chanter sole are all engraved sterling silver in the Victorian Relief pattern and was engraved by Dave Davidse in partnership with David Marshall Silversmith. The hemp stops and bushings and mammoth ivory from Banyan Bay Ivoryworks. The blowpipe is brass lined and is 11.5″ long.
This set has seen very little play time and is in excellent condition. It has been stored in a pipe majors bagpipe case and wrapped in silver cloth to limit tarnish on the silver. The bores receive a light coat of Bore Doctor Bore Oil every six months, the exterior of the pipes get a polish with Renaissance Wax, and the silver is polished then as well. The pipes are kept in the case and humidity is monitored to stay between 49 and 51 percent at all times.
These bagpipes have been evaluated and appraised by Ron “Ringo” Bowen from The Bagpipe Place in June of 2023 and I have a copy of the Certificate of Appraisal.
This is a serious set of bagpipes for a serious player and collector, and I will only entertain serious inquires and offers. The price listed is very firm and hand delivery or pickup of this set is highly recommended.
