I purchased this set in June of 2024 from Steve Rooklidge of the Shasta Piping Society. According to him, they were made in the early 1950s by an unknown maker who had most likely turned for Henderson and/or Hardie in the decade or so after WWII (which was not uncommon at that time). The tone is certainly akin to a Henderson set that I have played.
The set is in excellent condition, and there are no cracks. The mounts are new imitation ivory, and the set includes a new delrin blowpipe and delrin blowpipe chanter stocks in addition to the original blackwood blowpipe & stocks.
I had these drones set up for playing in Bb, and they sound great at that pitch. For playing at 480 or higher with modern synthetic drone reeds, you may need to rush the bass bottom with a length of brass tubing, which is also included in the sale.
Reason for selling: An opportunity came up to acquire a set of David Glen pipes, and I have too many other pipes anyway, so these need to go to a good home.
Sold as sticks and stocks. Shipping included within N. America.
