David Glen – bagpipes coccus wood with button projecting mounts and all natural (iv%ry) ferrules and drone ring caps – circa 1900. A great example of the craftsmanship from over 100 years ago.
“DAVID GLEN & SONS – EDINBURGH” is stamped on the bass stock, these pipes have been played for the last 6 years with no issues and are now being sold to raise funds for our organization. They are being sold as sticks and stocks only, including the original blowpipe. There was one cracked drone ferrule – it was replaced and a small repair to a drone ring cap. The blowpipe stock has been repaired and played for 6 years – no issues. Nominal wear as expected on pipes 100+ years old.
There are no warped sections and these pipes produce a warm rich sound – expected from David Glen. I have played cane and synthetic drone reeds and both are as steady as a rock. A very easy set to tune and a real joy to play. The reed seats have been threaded to add to the ease of set-up.
Selling for $3,500.00CDN + shipping. These pipes deserve to be played full time and enjoyed.
