Up for sale:
Circa 1895 David Glen bagpipe. Made from a mix of Cocuswood & Ebony w/nickel ferrules, button mounts and stylized ivory caps. Some would consider this one of David’s “standard” sets, but they’re very detailed in design and tone.
Originally listed through Jim McGillivray’s vintage website, David Glen sets aren’t big and bold when it comes to sound. They’re more reserved, but extremely rich and resonant as is typical for Glen pipes. This is an excellent pipe for Piobaireachd.
I want to be up front and honest on condition. While overall in great shape, there are a couple of hairline surface cracks, one in the base top and one in the bass mid-section. These have been sealed with a premium CA glue. (Still airtight and do not go all the way through). If you wish to have a professional look at repairing, I can recommend Dunbar or Roddy MacLellan here in the U.S. Hence the discounted price.
All of the other pieces are in fantastic shape and the ivory on the drone caps is excellent. The pipes play and sound wonderful.
Original blowpipe included, along with a blackwood replica made by Dunbar. Also an RG Hardie MaxiStick blowpipe.
Here’s an opportunity to own a piece of history for a discounted price.
