Selling a set of half-silver (hand-engraved) GHB made by the late Breton master bagpipe maker Pierre Blanchet (1947-2021) who specialized in making exquisite instruments based on vintage pipes. This one was his favorite model and style: Duncan MacDougall, c. 1875. Here is a short article on Pierre Blanchet https://pipingpress.com/…/breton-pipe-maker-pierre…/…
The pipes are made from African blackwood, aged imitation mounts, and hand-engraved silver in the runic design. Bushings are made from natural material. The silver was acquired through David Marshall at the time the pipes were made (2005). I have been the sole owner of this set. The condition is very good, with no cracks, warps, or chips in the wood. There are a few minor cosmetic scuffs on the top and middle sections of the bass drone as shown in one of the pictures. The bottom bass section is a Dunbar part (Henderson bore), but the orginal is also available and would be included with the set. The tone is fantastic with a variety of drone reeds : robust, deep, rich and room filling, though over the years my preference has been Ezeedrone tenors + Carbon Crozier bass, or full set of Balance Tone High Resonance. The instrument tunes as pictured at 480 Hz (A = 454). The pipes have been oiled 3-4 times per year since I acquired them, and continue to be played on a weekly basis. Asking $4000 CDN (approximately $3000 USD) for stick and stocks. Pipe bag, drone reeds, cords, cover, and poly pipe chanter can be provided at an extra cost. Shipping extra, but at cost.
