| Very vintage / cool set of Robertson bagpipes..Either approaching or over 100 years old.. I believes these to be from the 20s. Have all what appear to be the original ivory mounts and sticks/stocks in a beautiful/dark ebony wood. They play and sound incredibly! Drones can be heard here: Certainly that tone!!! Minimal effort to get and keep them going. They are the smaller 3/4 set so they are perfect for a lighter weight set, smaller person, kid. Don’t let ‘em fool you though- I’ve been playing these more than my GHB sets..Prior owner at some point corked the tuning slides and boy do they feel nice!! Come tied into a small bannatyne bag. I’ll include the drone and chanter reeds being played in the video- but will note- that these old reeds are probably robbing from the potential sound these are capable of!! Comes with an 80s model Dunbar full size chanter that I turned down to fit into the chanter stock. The good: Beautiful set – plays and sounds as is and sounds stellar The okay: This is an oooolllld set- there are imperfections and cracks here and there. All drone tops and bass mid section have cracks that were sealed and constricted with a small metal ring hidden inside the combing so they won’t open up again. Check the photos with my finger in them- you can see the ring— whoever repaired these rocked it!! I have had zero issues with these changing or opening up. Some of the Reed seats have cracks, I just don’t ram the reeds in and have hemped over them- they have no changed and have had zero impact on the set. The set is still gorgeous and ready to go!! I would prefer to blow your expectations so won’t to make sure I’m explaining every little detail. Need to go to a home where they are played more! Given these have ivory, I will not ship outside of the states. Will go fully insured. Thanks!! |
