Some time ago I acquired this lovely set of Henderson pipes. I had always wanted a Henderson. And I got it for a good price.
But since I got it, the pipe has literally….. sat in a corner of my house. For the whole summer. I have other pipes which I regularly play and if I’m now being honest with myself, I had no business buying ANOTHER pipe on top of the three I already own. A henderson is a cool thing to own but I am finally admitting I’ll never play it. I just don’t have the time.
This is an early 1960’s Henderson with full ivory. As I understand it, I was told this pipe mostly sat in storage for many decades. It was not played much and therefore not abused. The selling point here is of course the ivory- it’s in phenominal condition. And not discolored much.
The pipe comes with a professionally done certificate of authenticity and an estimate of value The COA values the pipe at $3,000.
There are a few tiny chips (see photos) but nothing that is noticible unless it’s in front of your face. The blowstick is a replacement, recently manufactured by Dunbar bagpipes to match the style and color of the set. The blowstick projecting mount is made from Holly, but even to the trained eye it perfectly matches the other ivory.
I’m selling the set for what I paid for it, it should go to a good home and be played. If I keep it, it will continue to sit in the corner.
Buyer to pay actual shipping. I’ll figure that out once there’s a buyer. Note that the pipes come with a timeless wood pipe case. (If you want to save on shipping cost I can skip shipping the case if you like).
Due to the ivory content of the instrument, I can only sell this within the continental US.
