I am selling my Robert Reid Practice chanter. As I have mentioned in a previous ad, I was gifted a Blackwood chanter and so all my other ones have been neglected since.
This is legitimately a piece of history. Robert Reid was one of the finest pipers of the 20th century, and owned his own pipe making business. It is uncertain whether or not he turned pipes or made chanters himself, but to think that this chanter may have been inspected by the man himself when it came off the lathe is quite cool.
It is a comfortable chanter, and the holes are not countersunk. Great tone, and obviously very hardy, as it has already survived 70+ years. I am not the original owner, nor will I be the last. Add your own story to this legacy piece!
Buyer pays shipping, will ship within CONUS only. I know the stamp is a little hard to see, so I’m willing to send more photos if you need further assurance that this is a genuine Reid chanter.
