Genuine British Army Issue Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders ORs’ and pipers’ kilt. The fabric is a lovely heavyweight wool with is Government No.1 (Hunting Sutherland) tartan. The kilt was made with regulation box pleats by Thomas Gordon & Sons of Glasgow. This kilt is in immaculate condition with original wool lining, regulation green grosgrain ribbon tape and the fit has not been altered.
The buckles appear to have been replaced or at least reattached but are firmly attached with no risk of them being pulled off. The design of the buckles mean that they are a bit fiddly to use but give a firm and solid fit. The lining grips your shirt and stops it from being untucked or the kilt from sliding about. The pleats are crisp and unwrinkled but the front apron may need a quick iron, otherwise ready to wear straightaway.
