A piece of piping history. Full set, key of D. By Jimmy (JJ) Maloney (Feakle, Co. Clare and Sheffield) professionally made in the 1970s. It’s true that JJ Maloney is not as well known a maker as others, but this does not detract from this set, as these pipes won the All Ireland Championship in 1987 for Martin Frain, the previous owner before me. They were also played on stage with U2. The best way to be sure of how these pipes sound, is to check out this Youtube Video here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HFCD1lNDrYY and here’s an older video of them ‘back in the day’ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WZ6oQ5j17DE They are well played-in and are going lovely. They have a beautiful sweet, smooth soft tone. New Kelleher bag. Chunky hefty, Taylor style drones and Regs going strong. All the reeds are going fine. Pick up and play condition. Right-handed. All recently overhauled as they were converted back from being a left-handed set. (Originally were made right-handed, were switched around to left, and are now back to being Right-handed again) Just need a tiny bit of tweaking when they settle into your home (you know reeds!) Only selling to fund my C set. If they’re still up here, take it they’re still available. Original sturdy case and original bellows provided. If you are still unsure about the maker, or quality etc. feel free to come and try them, and here is a nice article from NPU about JJ Maloney… http://pipers.ie/source/media/?mediaId=15507&galleryId=567 If you don’t want to be waiting years on a waiting list, and struggle to afford 8, 9, or €10,000, and you just want a decent set of pipes that are reasonably priced, and good to go; then don’t wait around, this is the set for you!
