Stunning set of Grainger Bagpipes dating from the 1940/50 era. Distinctive combing on this set provides a clear identification. The pipes have many similarities to Macraes with the Grainger link to Macrae.
In an unusual characteristic the hemp bed is very long on the pins which gives the appearance of short pins, however the additional legth of hemping actually ensures greater stability of the top section during tuning, perhaps an innovation inspired during his macrae working?!
The pipes have been exceptionally well cared for and have had minimal use since new, this set has not been refurbished and arrived in original condition.
