A vintage practice goose set up with a Peter Henderson practice chanter, blowpipe, stocks, bag cover and a brand new Bannatyne (M) synthetic pipe bag.
The chanter is stamped “P. Henderson Glasgow” and the lack of the incorporation info dates it to 1929 or earlier. The chanter has some nicks and scratches, commensurate with a ninety-five-year-old instrument, but it is easy to reed and it plays beautifully. The blowpipe is fully combed and beaded with a wood projection mount.
The goose was in with a set of pipes I purchased a few years ago. The old bag was in pieces, so I cut it off and then cleaned and oiled the pieces prior to installing them in the new synthetic bag.
Also included is some accompanying detritus; a First Edition, early Peter Henderson issue, Renfrew Street imprint copy of “HENDERSON’S Tutor for the Bagpipe and COLLECTION OF PIPE MUSIC” in decent original condition and a Lawrie cane practice chanter reed in the original box.
A nice package for Henderson enthusiasts!
