Jon Swayne bellows-blown flemish pipes in A, in plumwood. I’ve been gradually falling away from piping over the last few years, and these beauties are offered practically unused, in perfect condition (see photos).
They come with unique bellows that I made myself, from leather and MDF faced with a decoupage of 17th Century dancing notation and dancers.
I ordered these primarily for playing for rapper dance and sessions, where there’s limited space, and I was tired of whacking light fittings and other folks faces with drones over my back. The forward-facing drones of the Flemish Pipes makes them very convenient in smaller spaces, and quick to tune. I asked for the key of A, for maximum compatibility in folk sessions in England—very compatible with fiddles and D/G melodeons (which can often handle Amin), while still having a beautiful bright sound. Of course A is a great key for Scottish music too.
While I’m a little sorry to be selling them, I’ve hardly played them, so it’s time to let them go to somebody who will. Ideally, the buyer will cover postage, or I can deliver for free within a roughly 50 mile corridor between Newcastle, Sheffield, and Bristol (places I travel to often). You can buy these brand new for £1700 from Jon Swayne, or save yourself a 2 year wait and £150, with some bellows thrown in to the bargain :)
