Vintage Bagpipe
This bagpipe is in very good condition considering its age. John and Robert Glen made pipes in Edinburgh from 1860 onwards. This set is currently dated by two Canadian experts as pre-WW1. The instrument is over 100 years old.
The instrument has had some repairs over the years. The stocks are not original. However the three drones are matched Blackwood and Ivory with the uniquely shaped Glen projecting mounts. As can be seen in photographs the middle bass drone section projecting mount is cracked and in need of whipping. There have been no cracks found in the wood. The mounts on the stocks are celluloid, the drone mounts all look to be ivory. All considered the overall look is vintage Glen. The instrument was gently refinished in the late 1990s by late piper Lindsay Kirkwood for the current owner.
The tone of the drones with Eezedrone reeds was mellow and harmonic. The drones tuned easily and produce a beautiful classic tone. Pricing is as recommended by two prominent Canadian authorities. This price comes factored with the understanding that a professional refurbishment is warranted. USD$3000.00
