Naill Roddy MacLeod blackwood solo chanter, purchased ca. 2013. It’s lived in the original packaging this whole time (the ‘avdice’ notice is a keeper). Used extensively for about 4 years, it’s in good condition save for the e-tape ‘tan lines.’ It features a threaded reed seat. The finger spread is wide and the holes are large.
Overall smooth tone. The top hand is reminiscent of smallpipes: very clear. The high A is especially sweet and doesn’t crow easily. The piobaireachd high G is easy to dial in. The C tended to be a little flat and I couldn’t ever get it to produce a C natural reliably. That being said, I got lots of compliments on the timbre.
