The backstory here is that I purchased the estate of a former Pipe Major in August of last year and am currently working my way through the sets. I have a number of kitchen/parlour bagpipes that I am getting ready to sell. From left to right in the first picture:
- R. G. Hardie Kitchen pipes
- Henry Starck Parlour Pipes
- Glen Parlour Pipes
- Lawrie Parlour Pipes (new ferrules from Dunbar)
- Regular size bagpipe (for scale)
The Hardies are great for indoor practice (I got them to tune at A – 472 Hz), the larger sets would be excellent for young pipers just starting out. The Lawries, even though the bores are small, have stocks that will fit into a modern bag with grommets.
I am going through extensive reed tests to find ones that work well in each set. If you are interested in any of the sets, flip me a note and I can provide you with more information on the instrument and my timeline for finishing them.
