I first encountered this bagpipe in the early 1990s, while owned by a piper in Buffalo, New York. The instrument had been sent to the David Naill & Co. The original projecting mounts were replaced with imitation ivory mounts. Sterling silver caps, tuning slides, mouthpiece tube, and ferrules were also installed. Hallmarks indicate that this work was done in 1995.
1. Maker (Sinclair / MacPherson)
2. Age of the instrument (circa 1960)
3. Wood (African Blackwood)
4. Imitation ivory projecting mounts
5. Half Sterling Silver (16 pieces) – Hallmarked – DN 1995
6. Overall condition (excellent)
The price may be negotiable. I’m not sure about the chanter shown in the picture or otherwise. The bottom line is that I know the seller and I know the bagpipe. Both are excellent. Email me and I will put you in touch with the owner.
