A gorgeous little and versatile set if SSPs built by the great Philip Gruar – and correspondingly sweet drones (Northumbrian-like, but not quite: best description is probably Edwardian!), lovely bag, bellows, and reeds.
The showpiece of the set is certainly the two chanters. The D chanter one might be able to expect, but I can honestly say I have never come across another set for which there was a high G(!) chanter – it is a stunner (notice the double bottom hole, very fun). Be warned, it is not for those of us with bigger hands, unless you are willing to re-learn a bit of fingertip-playing. This is also one of the reasons for my sale of the set: It is sitting too disused given my rather large hands (though they fit just fine on the D chanter). Could probably do with a light drone fettle, but still tune suitably for both chanters.
I would like to see it go to a home that can use its sonic capabilities to their fullest. I would prefer a sale, but may be open to a PX for another set of SSPs in either D or C.
