J. Percy Sturrock, Piping for Boys; or, A Piper’s Primer, To Enable Young Men to Teach Themselves to Play the Bapgipes (Stirling: Eneas Mackay, 1911).
Rare copy of a work on which Roderick Cannon (A Bibliography of Bagpipe Music, 1980) offers the following comment: “Seumas MacNeill . . . described it as the best book of instructions ever published — that is, prior to the appearance of [MacNeill’s] College of Piping Tutor.”
The author was a Black Watch officer and piping instructor for the Boys’ Brigade. This is the second printing of a work first published in 1909.
