I recently had my hybrid 3/4 Uilleann pipes set overhauled by the amazing pipe maker Joe Kennedy. I can’t say enough about how well my set works after being in his skilled hands. Anyway, Joe felt that the bellows didn’t fit the set well with a smaller L&M bag that I had him tie in and he made a smaller bellows for me. I really like the old bellows. It s very solid and comfortable and gives a smooth push of air into the bag. A few small signs of wear but in tip top shape with no leaks and a nice leather covered blow pipe. The bellows was made by the Canadian maker Chris Dixon whose mark “CJ DIXON” is engraved on the bellows. It was one of his ‘deluxe’ models and has served me well. Price $300.00 USD.
Also, for sale is a bellows I’ve had lying around made by Michael Vignoles. It is in working order with no leaks but IMHO it would be functional for a practice set but the leather or whatever material he used is too stiff and creates too wide an opening and should be replaced. This bellows has seen very little use and the leather straps and wood and all other materials really show almost no signs of wear so somebody could make it into a nice bellows with replacement of the leather. I had planned to do this but realistically will never get around to it. Price $130.00 USD
Glad to discuss in person by phone or zoom or skype or whatever. Btw the Chris Dixon bellows is black; the green one is by Michael Vignoles.
