Lovely stand of parlor pipes. These are from an Estate Sale in Road Island and the documentation suggests that they date from the 1940’s. They are branded Boosey & Hawkes, but evidence strongly suggest they were made by Henry Starck. There is a picture that shows a tenor drone and bass top beside full size pipes, to illustrate the size difference. The bass top is ten and a half inches with a much smaller diameter. The pipes are fully combed and beaded, with button mounts and imitation ring caps, bushings and chanter sole. The chanter stock is missing the metal ferrule.
Package also includes a standard size, tunable chanter stock which would allow an expanded range for tuning the chanter in order to play with other instruments, an uncut Bannatyne pipe bag (M), bag cover and matching cords, a Beck blowpipe valve (fits in the bottom of the blowpipe stock and a wooden pipe case.
The Pipe Chanter is original to the set, the ring caps were replaced, which is why they don’t match the chanter sole patina.
These bagpipes would work perfectly for a new, young, piper, and indoor set for practice, or as a set to accompany other instruments.
