This is an original WWI era sporran. It appears it was original worn by an officer of the 48th/ Highlanders 134 Oversea Battalion, as the number 134 is still just visible on the back flap of the sporran pouch. The badge I believe is WW2 era. So it may have been reused in the Second World War. There are no extra holes behind the cantle, so if the badge was changed it was done professional and is held on by small nuts. Also no extra holes in the sporran body, so the cantle was never changed or if it was it was made to fit the original mounting holes. The hair is full bodied and in excellent condition, with the exception of one of the tassels which is a light less full than the others. Officer body as can be noted by the rear of the pouch. Nice period example of a rather hard to find sporran that has not been toyed with other than for the fact that the red fabric behind the badge is modern.
